Stories. Opinions. Life on the air.

Some stories are too good to leave off the air.

I'm Psycho Sammy Lee. Radio gave me a microphone, a nickname, and a front-row seat to some things you couldn't make up if you tried. This is where the stories, opinions, laughs, music, and life beyond the studio all come together.

From the studio and beyond

Yeah. That really happened.

Years behind the microphone lead to some unforgettable moments. Here are a few that deserve to be told.

01 / The name

How I went “Psycho”

A KISS concert, a couple of guys spilling beer, and a complaint to the station the next day. That's how the name Psycho Sammy Lee was born.

02 / Halloween

The free candy van

The station limo left me at a Halloween concert. A listener dressed as Medusa came to the rescue—in a white van marked “FREE CANDY.”

Why the overnight shift mattered

Sure, I wanted the big rated shift. But late-night radio gave me conversations and connections that stayed with me long after sunrise.

Life on the air

There's more than one side to Sammy

On the air.
Off the air.
Never boring.

There's the broadcasting, of course. But there's also the music, the people, the fire and rescue world, technology, business, and a lifetime of things worth talking about. This isn't a website about just one format of music—or just one chapter of life.

Life in pictures.

A place for photos from the radio years, concerts, friends, and everything in between. The personal gallery will grow as the pictures are added.

One more thing before you go

The conversation isn't over.

The website is the home for the longer stories. The conversations continue on my public Facebook profile. Direct contact information will be added here when the contact page is set up.
